Wait a bit longer. Your basic idea is sound, 64bit is good. Vista 64b is less so. It was very easy to set up dual booting. Not an 64 bit issue. <snip> Everything has been as smooth IIRC there are some of the features that don't work on x64. So be careful, it was a few most likely unused things but still there.
